Q : I like to know the range (time base) length and sensitivity of MsSR-2020. |
A
: The test result for 6.35-mm-thick, carbon-steel plate, performed at Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, Texas, USA, showed that a 13-mm-long, 50-percent-thickness- deep notch can be detected over about 6-meter range with signal-to-noise ratio of 2 by using 80-kHz shear-horizontal wave(SH wave, velocity ~ 3260 m/sec). The wave was generated with 8-inch-long probe. For inspection of 5-mm-long, austenitic stainless steel (non-ferromagnetic material), the SH wave would be generated by using a thin nickel bonded on the surface. Using the thin nickel for the generation of SH wave, the MsSR-2020 will have significantly improved performance. |
